Please join us for an artist talk on Wednesday, October 16 at 8 pm at Espresso 77 cafe in Jackson Heights, NY, for the fifth and last talk of our 2024 season!
Queens-based comic artists Dennis Madamba, Mattie Lubchansky, Niccolo Pizarro, and Sharon De La Cruz will each present their work for approximately 15 minutes. Event is curated by Jesse C. Lambert.
The event will begin at 8:00 pm at Espresso 77 cafe at 35-57 77th St, Jackson Heights, NY 11372. We invite you to arrive around 7 pm, grab a seat, and settle in with a drink and/or food. Espresso 77 is pleased to offer a happy hour until 8 pm for our event (featuring second drink for half price).
The event is free, but the purchase of a beverage or food item is strongly encouraged in support of our venue partner E 77.

BIOS
Dennis Madamba (he/him) is a visual artist in Jackson Heights, Queens working in illustration, design, and comics with a community focus. His work has appeared in publications like The Baffler Magazine and Parents.com, and won the Graphic Literature award from Solstice Magazine in 2023.

Mattie Lubnchansky (they/them) is a cartoonist and illustrator living in Queens. They are the former associate editor of the Eisner- and Ignatz-winning publication The Nib. They are the author of The Antifa Super-Soldier Cookbook and Boys Weekend. Their next book, Simplicity, will be out from the Pantheon graphic library in summer 2025.

Niccolo Pizarro (they/them/all pronouns) is a queer Filipino American cartoonist and illustrator from Queens, New York. Their work has been featured in The Nib, The Eater, In These Times, and more! Their work often features current events, exaggerated retellings of their daily life, and the occasional pulp genre, all of which is influenced by the video games and animé they consumed as a child. They currently live in Jackson Heights with their wonderful partner and the sweetest dog ever.

Sharon De La Cruz (she/they) is a NYC-based storyteller, educator, and activist whose work blends STEM education, art, and social justice. Her graphic memoir, “I’m a Wild Seed” (2021), was praised by Kirkus Reviews and Publisher’s Weekly for its portrayal of queer identity. De La Cruz holds a master’s from NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program and has received numerous fellowships, including a Fulbright, Processing Foundation Fellowship, and TED Residency. She is an Assistant Arts Professor at ITP-NYU.
