#60 Jess Levey with Nancy Gesimondo, Wed. May 13

Join us on Wednesday, May 13 for the second event of our 2026 season: Jess Levey, with Nancy Gesimondo.

The talk begins at 8 pm at Espresso 77 cafe at 35-57 77th St, Jackson Heights, NY 11372. We invite you to arrive around 7 pm, settle in with a drink and/or food, and grab a seat. Espresso 77 is pleased to offer a happy hour with discounts on draft beer pints, glasses of wine, and wine cocktails till 8 pm.

The evening starts with Nancy Gesimondo sharing her recent photography projects, followed by Jess Levy presenting her multi-media work.

The event is free, but the purchase of a beverage or food item is strongly requested in support of our venue partner Espresso 77.


Bios

Jess Levey is a re-emerging, multimedia artist based in Queens, NYC. Her work has been exhibited at various art spaces in and around NYC including Exit Art, The Invisible Dog, NurtureArt, MoCADA, The Factory and The Rochester Contemporary. Her work has also been selected for exhibitions at Woman Made Gallery in Chicago and Spilt Milk Gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her films have been selected for festivals such as the NY Short Film Festival, The NY Pause Film Festival, The Queens World Film Festival and the Paris Short Film Festival. Jess’s work was also selected for Tomorrow’s Stars: The Art Brooklyn Open Call Exhibition at the Verge Art Fair. Jess received her BA from Barnard College and her MFA from Hunter College. In 2023, Jess was an artist-in-residence at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Center (LMCC) on Governors Island in New York City and she was recently a recipient of a NYFA Queens Arts Fund grant. She also teaches photography and filmmaking to both High School and College students.

Nancy Gesimondo is an interdisciplinary mixed-media artist whose projects address environmental preservation in the age of the Anthropocene. In 2024, she was awarded the Grand Prize for her image Seeing at the New York Center for Photographic Art. In 2023, NYFA awarded her project “Portals” the Queens Art Fund (QAF) New Work Grant. This project consists of photography-based assemblages of herself in Dead Horse Bay and the Salton Sea, two toxic environments on either end of the United States. In 2020, her project “Reflections” was awarded a new work grant from the Queens Council on the Arts. Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. Two notable exhibitions include the Annual Juried Exhibition at The Queens Museum curated by Holly Solomon, and Metamorphosis show at the Palm Springs Art Museum curated by Alma Ruiz. Her work is held in private collections throughout the U.S. as well as, Germany and France.
