Join us on Wednesday, September 23 for artist talks with Jae Hi Ahn and Ellen Jing Xu.
The talks begin at 8 pm at Espresso 77 cafe at 35-57 77th St, Jackson Heights, NY 11372. We invite you to arrive around 7 pm, settle in with a drink and/or food, and grab a seat. Espresso 77 is pleased to offer a happy hour with discounts on draft beer pints, glasses of wine, and wine cocktails till 8 pm.
Each artist will present their work for 20-25 minutes, followed by a Q&A at the end.
The event is free, but the purchase of a beverage or food item is strongly requested in support of our venue partner Espresso 77.
Bios:
Jae Hi Ahn is a Korean born artist whose work explores community well-being through her Korean cultural background and community’s natural & multicultural surroundings. Ahn’s work has been presented widely in New York at venues that include Sunroom Project Space at Wave Hill, Chashama, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Broadway Windows at NYU, The Field Sculpture Park at Art Omi, Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, LMCC’s Arts Center, Stone Quarry Hill Art Park, and Flushing Town Hall. She has been awarded grants from Queens Arts Fund, Brooklyn Arts Council Community Arts Regrant, The Puffin Foundation, and Urban Artist Initiative Fellowship, and has participated in various residencies at LMCC Swing Space, Ragdale, I-Park, VCCA, Hambidge Center, and Sculpture Space. Her work was selected for ArtBridge x Battery Park City Resiliency Project for 2026. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The L Magazine, Untapped New York, and The Brooklyn Paper, among others.

Jing (Ellen) Xu is a multidisciplinary artist based in Queens, New York. Born in Inner Mongolia, China, she received a BA in Sculpture from Xiamen University and an MFA in Photomedia from the University of Washington. Xu works across sculpture, installation, painting, and drawing using everyday and recycled materials. Through repetition, accumulation, and modular structures, her work explores how small actions gradually shape systems of resilience, memory, and choice. She has participated in residencies including Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture, Saltonstall Foundation, Kimmel Harding Nelson Center, and Foundation House Climate Residency. Her work has been supported by the Queens Arts Fund and has been exhibited throughout the United States.
