#63 Comic Artists: Kim Chan, Brendan Leach, Christopher Gomez, & Anoush Froundjian, Oct. 13, 2026

Join us on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 for a comic artists talk featuring presentations by Kim Chan, Brendan Leach, Christopher Gomez, and Anoush Froundjian. The evening is curated by local comics artist Jesse Lambert.

The talk begins at 8 pm at Espresso 77 cafe at 35-57 77th St, Jackson Heights, NY 11372. We invite you to arrive around 7 pm, settle in with a drink and/or food, and grab a seat. Espresso 77 is pleased to offer a happy hour with discounts on draft beer pints, glasses of wine, and wine cocktails till 8 pm.

Each artist will speak and share images for approximately 10-15 minutes, followed by a Q&A at the end.

The event is free, but the purchase of a beverage or food item is strongly requested in support of our venue partner Espresso 77.


Bios:

Kim Chan is a Tsinay (Chinese/Filipinx/American) comic artist and political illustrator. They are an alumni of LaGuardia Highschool and Queens College and have been active in Queens based organizing through collectives such as (but not limited to) Diverse Streets Initiative and Love Wins Food Pantry. Previously, their work has been shown locally at Flushing Town Hall and the Made in Queens Arts Walk in Jackson Heights. In 2021, Chan’s short comic “Queens I Love You, But You’re Bringing Me Down…” was one of five projects patroned by The Creative Sanctum (helmed by Sharon Chin) as an effort to encourage New Yorkers to participate in local as well as general elections.

Brendan Leach is a graphic novelist and educator. In 2002, he received a BFA in Fine Arts from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University and an MFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in 2010. Since 2016, he has been an Associate Professor and Chairperson of MFA Illustration at SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology. His graphic novels have been published by Top Shelf/IDW and Secret Acres in English, by Ca et La in French, and by Editioni 001 in Italian and Spanish.

Christopher Gomez is a cartoonist, portrait artist, and arts educator based out of Queens, NY. His work revolves around the stories and quiet moments all around us that often go untold.

Anoush Froundjian is a storyteller and cartoonist who has finally gotten comfortable with her first name. When she isn’t telling stories, she draws cartoons for Anoush Talks to Stuff, her webcomic about a girl who talks to inanimate objects, and co-produces the storytelling show “The Armenian Power Hour” at Q.E.D. with writer/storyteller Aida Zilelian (You don’t have to be Armenian).
